It’s really great, Val. The time lapse w/ the sun passing was amazing. I love time lapse stuff… reminds me of Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer video, or Gumby. So amazing. I wonder why you went to all that trouble though? Do you wish to make videos for major artists? I’m sure you could; the one thing I would say, is that to watch this for almost 4 minutes, as much as you have going on on the canvas – is too monotonous as a standalone music video. But to showcase your skills and creativity, it’s fantastic. It would have been cool to see it more close up, but I like the easel idea, and to see the sun pass through the studio. I don’t know… some mixture of both would be great. Also, I don’t know how difficult all this was to do – but the pattern on the sides of the canvas that recurred throughout, might be changed up to something else a few times as well.
I hope you take this a a compliment, and constructive critique! There’s nothing bad about it – it’s amazing, really. Very cool ideas, and your hard work shows. And you got me to listen to a full Rhihanna song, which I would not have done otherwise. I don’t really like the song either. But that’s beside the point, which is, you got me to put all that aside to watch this video, b/c it is very cool.

Val, when I taught BBC directors and later College Media students to make videos the accepted rule was be economical on word/picture association lest you fall into the trap of illustrating every word with sometimes inappropriate words or pictures and ‘over-egging the pudding !’
Your work has proved that this is yet another rule to be broken….well done on the hours of painstaking work. The final result is excellent and the animation works extremely well. I can see you are getting a taste for more moving pictures and that your painting skills are enriching the video medium too. All the best and let Sundance see your work, you should be in line for a prize very soon.
